Cadger Martial Arts

Class held at Selkirk Park - July to Sept (weather permitting)

Cadger Martial Arts was established in 2010 by Arlie Cadger and Tylor Swain in Selkirk MB in the hopes of creating a martial arts school that both exemplified the values of traditional martial arts with the practicality of modern combative arts. Since the inception of Cadger Martial Arts Training Academy of Canada (CMATAC) there has been an overwhelming response to the services provided in the Selkirk and surrounding area.

Having expanded two times since first opening its doors CMATAC has established itself into both the Selkirk martial arts family and as a major competitor in the world of competitive martial arts. CMATAC has many opportunities for students and trainers to involve themselves in competition through its diverse training style. CMATAC affiliates are able to compete in point fighting, weapons and traditional forms, continuous semi-contact sparring, as well as kickboxing and boxing bouts.

If competition is not your aspiration in seeking martial arts training there is also the great health benefits that comes along with training. Although CMATAC has an infamous physical fitness component, the trainers consistently reinforce that any fitnes level is capable of participating; from a person who has never exercised before to a structured athlete. The reason for this is the adjustable and individualized sytle of fitness programming designed and reinforced by CMATAC Certified Trainers and Fitness Specialist. Anyone is able to get their workout from a class at CMATAC and improve at their own rate without the pressure of needing to "keep-up" with another participant.

CMATAC also offers incentives for those athletes who choose to pursue competitive excellence through Elite Ranking levels based on their competitive prowess. Nationalist training is also available for those participants who excell to a level of Team Manitoba and wish to compete at the Nationals with aspirations of competing at the World Championships as a member of Team Canada; all Nationalist training is conducted in conjunction with regular classes by a Fitness Training Specialist and a competitive martial arts trainer.

CMATAC trainers range in experience and specialties; the trainers possess 4 year Self-Defense certifications, diversified Black Belts, Fitness Trainer Certification, Boxing/Kickboxing coach qualifications, CPR/AED/First Aid certifications, and a variety of course qualifications such as referee training, weapons training and Combative Defensive Tactics.

Beyond training physically CMATAC also maintains a strong relationship with the Selkirk community and works with many organizations in order to give back to the community that so often shows its support for the endeavors of CMATAC. With over 30 volunteering opportunities within the Selkirk area CMATAC students, staff, and family and friends there is no shortage of ways that our martial arts school can improve the community that we live in.
